The world of work is changing fast so it's vital that you've got the skills to compete in today's job market.  If you want to get on in life you need good practical skills in English, maths and information and communications technology.  You also need skills like team working and problem solving that all employers look for.  That's why all courses now include these skills. 

Learning comes in all shapes and sizes so there's definitely something to suit you.  There are lots of different options for you to choose from to achieve your goals.

NQL
Higher or Advanced Diploma
The Diploma combines theoretical study with practical experience and work experience.  View a video where young people talk about their experiences whilst they have been on an Engineering Diploma course.

Search for courses
GCSE/A Level
These qualifications are regularly updated to ensure that they remain high quality, relevant and interesting.  They can be combined with Diplomas.

Search for an Apprenticeship

Apprenticeship
Apprenticeships allow students to learn at work and gain qualifications.  The number and range of Apprenticeships is increasing hugely.  Search for Apprenticeships.

Foundation Learning
This is for young people who are not ready for a full level 2 qualification and includes a mix of learning to suit the individual.

Higher Education
More young people go into higher education which doesn't include just a degree, but also work related qualifications.

Employment with Training
Some young people want to move into work at the earliest opportunity.  This will continue to be an option provided that young people continue to participate in education or training.
