Young people central to the development of the Connexions Service.....
Young people are at the heart of the Connexions service - they are central to all that we do. Who better to tell Connexions what it needs than yourselves?  Youth consultation groups have been set up across Buckinghamshire so that we can find out young people's views and opinions on all sorts of things.  This page looks at some of the projects where young people have helped us.  If there is something that appeals to you and you would like to get involved we will provide you with all the training and support you need.  Some of the projects will provide you with the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification which will look good on your CV!

New information leaflet
Connexions developed a new information leaflet with a group of young people. The group developed the design and reviewed what should be written on the leaflet.  We listened to the group's views to make sure the leaflet would appeal to everyone.

Website
A group of young people worked with us on developing the Connexions website.  At a focus group session they assessed the design and navigation and thought about what was needed to develop the website so it would appeal to a wide range of young people.

Interviewing for new Personal Advisers
Young people have regularly been involved in interviewing for new Connexions staff. They have sat on interview panels when we have been recruiting new Personal Advisers. Young people have asked questions and given feedback at the interviews so we can be sure of taking on new Personal Advisers that young people feel are right for the job.

Other projects include:

  • becoming a 'mystery shopper' - testing and evaluating the services provided by Connexions Buckinghamshire
  • part of the editorial group for the Youth Magazine
  • on the Grant Award panel, evaluating projects to decide who is awarded funding
  • getting involved with politics and joining UK Youth Parliament.

You too can get involved on projects like this!
